If you’re really going to achieve your goals in life you are going to have to get comfortable confronting the void. The dictionary defines “void” as “without contents, empty.” For our purposes though I’m going to say that the void is the vast unknown; the future that yawns out there in front of you.
To get where you want to go you have to understand that you’ll have to do some things you’ve never done; i.e., venture into the unknown.
The problem is that oftentimes our current situation has to become so uncomfortable, so miserable, the pain so great before we’ll really be open to changing and trying out those new things. As you know, people can put up with a lot before they’ll actually change. I think that’s telling.
It tells me that as bad as the current “known” is, for many, it’s still better than the unknown. It’s like driving an old car. It may be old…but you know the things that are wrong with it and you deal with it or work around it. It’s better than getting another used car where there are a lot of unknowns. But just wait. At some point, you’ll reach that point where you’re no longer willing to deal with it and “anything is better than this.”
Are you there yet? Has the current situation gotten to that point yet? Are you ready to confront the void?
You’ll need to be brave. You’ll need to have faith.
I think this verse was written especially for you today. Be encouraged. It’s time to step into the void!
