In the fifth century a young Briton, a son of a loyal Roman family was kidnapped by a band of Irish raiders from his home on the shores of Wales and taken back to Ireland to serve as a slave. He was enslaved for six years before he escaped and made it back to Briton. But it doesn't end there.
The people who enslaved him had also captured his heart. He went into the priesthood and made it his life's mission to go back to Ireland and establish churches and monasteries all over the island. It's said that his mission actually brought civilization to Ireland. He became such a legend that folks say he actually drove all the snakes out of Ireland and he was crowned it's patron saint.
His name was Maewyn Succat. But you likely know him as St. Patrick. Yes, one man or woman really can change a whole culture, a whole country, a whole tribe. What bold steps for change are you taking today?
