I love the writing of Aaron Sorkin. I've particularly loved his work on West Wing, A Few Good Men, Live from Studio 60 and Moneyball and much more. If you haven't clicked on the video above to watch, do it now.
I don't know what Mr. Sorkin's spiritual views are. I have no idea whether he believes in God or not. However, this I do believe: When Aaron Sorkin sits down in front of his keyboard or typewriter or pad of paper and begins to write, he takes a step into his destiny, his gift. He's doing what he was born to do.
The examples referenced above are filled with examples of what I'm talking about. He's gifted sure, but listening to the words in that clip from West Wing moves me more than just a talent for writing can do. Forget for a moment (though it's hard to do) the painful connection to the shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary a few weeks ago. This writing touches something deep in all of us. This is anointing from God.
When Sorkin writes or when Picasso painted or Bono sings or Jeter chases a ground ball, they step into their destinies. They flow in the anointing; the reason for which God created them. And it's amazing to witness.
What were you created to do? What is that thing that you have to do in order to really live. Do that. We need you to bring that anointing to our community, our school, our company, our church. Quit hiding. Bring your art.
