The mystifying duality of God’s kingdom

The mystifying duality of God’s kingdom

It would seem to the casual observer that God is continually at odds with Himself. Think about the seemingly opposing statements you’ve read in the Bible. If you want more you have to give more. If you want to be first, you have to be last. And of course the real kicker, if you want to live, you have to die.

But these things are not a demonstration of God’s opposition to Himself. They are a demonstration of his mysterious duality; the quality of being two. God’s nature itself is dual. He is, after all, both justice and mercy.

But God being God, set the example for us all. He gave His only son as a sacrifice for our sin in order to win back us all from the power of sin and death. He gave it all so He could get it all.

Yesterday I told you that in order to multiply your gift you would have to kill it. Yeah, maybe I could’ve used different words but the fact is if you want to multiply more of your gift you are going to have to let go of what you are holding on to so tightly. That’s the only way. I know it works against everything in your mind. But it’s true. If you want to get, you have to let go.

It order for a seed to become a seedling it has to die to the idea of being a seed. Before you are going to be able to take the next big step, whatever that may be, you must die to the idea of being where you are. Make sense? A caterpillar has to go into that cocoon and die to himself before he has any hope of emerging as a butterfly.

So, what does that really mean? Well, this is what I think. Maybe you are a gifted musician or artist or teacher or writer but you’ve never really done anything with the gift. You’ve secretly toyed with the idea of it but you’ve never taken the steps to really turn the gift into a skill. Because…once you put it out there, you run the risk of failure, of being found out as a fraud, of falling short. That’s scary. It’s really scary.

But your gift, as awesome as it may be, will never be more than a seed unless you let it go. Quit listening to the dragon. Put it out there. Practice. Fail. Practice. Fail. Practice. Get better. Practice. Become an expert.

Do you want to find yourself? Lose yourself. Every day.

  • Right before I saw this a quote came across Twitter. RT @weninchina: RT @experienceato: “Wherever you go, go with all your heart.” —Confucius..
I loved how it match your post. I have no idea if my next move (I pray they all are guided by my walk with God) will fail or succeed. I still need to go in with everything I have. Sweet post to start my day. Thank you friend.

  • It’s pretty cool to see God doing the same thing with His folks in one area that He’s doing in other areas. It’s like a season of change, shift, transition. The future belongs to the brave my friend. Brave and faithful. Each step is an adventure! There’s no map to follow for living life like this! Thanks for spreading the post!
